I remember when I was approached about this event and how excited I was about the designs I sketched. WOW, what a process it was taking the jewelry from paper sketches to prims! It took me several drafts in order to come up with the final piece but its all finished and ready for the opening on Sunday. I squeed every time I saw the bits of Evie’s dress coming together and when the wings were added on I was in heaven.

In all of my years in the jewelry industry both in RL and in SL I never got the opportunity to be in this position. As a woman, you usually go shopping for your dress, then get your shoes, then accessorize from there. Most of the time the jewelry is the final touch to an outfit and there are a lot of times that I see jewelry forgotten. I believe necks, ears, fingers, and arms should never be left undecorated. One day I would love to see every woman in the world try to add at last one piece of jewelry they would not normally wear. In my RL job I am on the phone a lot so I don’t wear earrings; because of this I am sure to wear at least a necklace and/or bracelet everyday. If you’re going to invest the money in such beautiful accessories for your wardrobe why leave them in your jewelry box? I give you this one challenge: go to your RL and SL jewelry inventories and pick one piece per week that you have not worn in at least a year, then try to work it into an outfit that week. I bet there are at least a few pieces in your jewelry boxes that are screaming to be displayed to the world.

Etheria opens this Sunday, June 13th 2010. The Fashion show is at 3:00 p.m. and at 4:00 p.m. we invite you to visit Etheria in the clouds.

Ever since I was little I’ve had to deal with someone close to me battle cancer in some form or another and sadly most of those I know have lost the battle. When I was only 2 years old I lost my grandfather who from what I was told love and adored me more than I will ever know. I’ve even watched two adopted children lose their mother to breast cancer when I was only 12. I went and held one of my employees in my arms and consoled her at the funeral home while her daughter lay peacefully in her coffin. Her daughter was was just 2 years younger than me, she lost her battle with a rare form of brain cancer. Recently, I lost one of my favorite aunt’s to a battle with brain cancer. The list and stories could go on and on.

In the morning yesterday when I shared that I would be making this choice to go bald in support of cancer patients all week…Stella Stapleton shared a story with me and I was touched by it.
Stella Stapleton: Naomi is a single mom of two teenaged kids..I worked with her for a few years and I really looked up to her. She’s been battling Leukemia since February..it’s been really difficult on her (chemo is horrible) but she’s got a great attitude

Although some of you may think your walking through life all alone…

To all who have overcome/battling and have yet to be diagnosed always know you are loved by someone, lean on your friends and family for support.

If you have cancer in your family history, and you live in the US, I suggest you find an insurance agent who sells Cancer Insurance. If you live in any state where Allstate is available I recommend them, not just because I work for them, but because I myself took a policy out last year just to have myself prepared in case for the future. Be prepared now, you never know what the future holds.
