Winterstock, Step Up, and MORE new releases!

Darion’s been incredibly busy in real life with a new job (yay!) so she asked me to fill you guys in on a couple more things.

Winterstock is a 2 month-long event celebrating winter that opened to the public today (November 5th.) The ‘Merry Christmas’ sim is the absolutely gorgeous brainchild of Antonia Marat and Ewan Mureaux, and I highly recommend you get there to check it out, whether or not you celebrate Christmas. There are tons of vendors and Darion was lucky enough to snag a spot! Be sure to come down and check out the scenery and pick up Darion’s newest release:
DM-Iced-Snowflake-Diamond-Silver

All of the newest releases are there (Stone Dreams II, Eleni, the Isabeau Pearls and Lena) as well as last year’s adorable Yummilicious candy cane jewelry set and Ice Princess, a beautifully delicate diamond set.

Darion has more new releases in mind, so we may cycle out the items. Of course all of Darion’s releases can be found in her main store on Resurgence, but do be sure to get to Winterstock!

As many of you may be aware, content theft is a serious issue in SecondLife. There are 2 different organizations fighting content theft in SecondLife: Artists’ Voice and Step Up. Step Up asked only that nothing be uploaded for 1 day (November 5th) whereas Artists’ Voice called for a 48-hour “STOP!” boycott that asked designers to shut down their stores, consumers to stop buying content, bloggers to stop blogging, and all SecondLife residents to avoid buying and selling Lindens. Darion has been involved with the Content Creators Association and Step Up for some time now. Please be aware that Darion’s store is currently open and will remain open.

These are two very different organizations with a common goal: to eradicate content theft in SecondLife. Darion and I ask that you educate yourself about content theft and its impact on our world, and support original creators who work hard to bring you original content. Information on Step Up be found in Darion’s main store on Resurgence and at the links I’ve provided throughout this post. I’ve also included links to Artists’ Voice so you can read what they’re about and support one or both of the organizations if you so choose.

Darion thanks you for your business and your support.

Lets Get Together and Step UP!

I rezzed in Second Life officially on 4/21/2006, after fighting with getting it to work on my PC. When I rezzed in Second Life, I was lucky enough to have some great friends I already knew here from The Sims Online.
What were some of my firsts?
Outfit:Nyte’N'Day called Taylor
Skin: Nomine – Medium tan with some smexy lipsticks
Hair: ETD – Sexy II
Shoes: A set that was sadly deleted from my inventory b/c it had to much bling *giggles*
I remember becoming such a shop-a-holic, not like I wasn’t already in RL. I found some great designers as I shopped, and most of them are still around today. So now your wondering why I am blogging this story to you?

Content Creators don’t have any sort of security to protect ourselves agains theft. Our designs and creations don’t just get whipped out of thin air, we take our time out to design and create. We won’t stand down though, we won’t just give up for the sake of these *inserts lots of bad words here*. We get together and we form groups and we are there for one another. CCA: Content Creators Association is one of those groups. Founded by Gwen Carillon of Elements in Design on 01-01-08 this group comes together and is there for each other and provides all the necessary information needed to protect yourself and take action against theft. I was lucky enough to meet Gwen while volunteering my time for the 2009 Jewelry Fair. Gwen is not only a great person but she is an amazing writer and artist. She introduced me to the CCA and a few other groups of great designs/creators. Just recently there was a huge theft of Woodshed by Rebel Hope and RH Engel & Ramos Designs by Susan and xTrojan Ramos. You can watch some of the story here on Fabulous Fashion with Angie Mornington.

Here is where Step UP! Comes into this post…
The Start of Step UP! – first post on the website which you can find here here

Linden Lab needs to remember that Second Life would not be there if it wasn’t for all of the content creators and customers. We are asking all fellow content creators and customers to join with us as we Step UP! everyday of our lives, as well as on November 5th. On November 5th we are stepping up and NOT uploading anything into the viewer. If you think about how many times you just snap a simple pic…
“OMG, Dar your eyes were crossed…I HAD to snap a picture to show you”
“OMG, your head was up your butt, HAHAHA I took a picture”
“Awww hun, we look so cute in this pose let me snap a picture” …
Well content creators do this for their business and not always just for fun. Imagine how many times a day you just “snap a picture” for the fun of it or Gwen uploads some of her amazing art, or Rebel uploads countless textures for one of her amazing outfits. I myself spend a lot of L$ on uploads…so if we ban together for ONE DAY, just think of how much of an effect we can make. To show Linden Lab we are here to STEP UP. Grab your Step UP! package at my main store location.

More information coming soon about how DM Designs is STEPPING UP!
